New York style queen and Misshapes founder, Leigh Lezark and the
lovable rouge and musician, Carl Barat joined us at Cherkley Court,
the beautiful Victorian mansion once graced by the likes of Winston
Churchill and H.G. Wells, for a winter weekend of disheveled
Christmas glamour.
Q&A
How did you enjoy your weekend at Cherkley
Court?
C- It was effortless, I got to bathe in Lord Beaverbrook's bath,
doze in Churchill's bed and read original handwritten Kipling
poetry. It was pretty festive too, being coerced into
Christmas jumpers is always festive.
L- The whole estate looked amazing decorated top to bottom in a
romantic, classic holiday feel, we even made it snow.
Which piece from the collection would you like to take
home?
C- The Tux.
L- I had several favourites depending on setting and mood from the
maxi skirt paired with sweaters surrounded by candlelight, to the
tailored suits on the rooftop, and cocktail
dresses by the Christmas tree.
Do you have any winter wardrobe essentials?
C- Some kind of wooly long-john suit a-la Disney cartoons, and a
fur hooded parka.
L- Lots of pairs of black tights, my boyfriend's comfy sweaters
and heels that can withstand walking in a lot of snow.
What's the best piece of style advice you've ever
received?
C- I really don't think you're ready for leather trousers
Carlos, maybe have a
little re-think...
L- Don't follow all the trends because you're going to look like
everyone
else, find your own style.
Do you have a favourite Christmas
tradition?
C- Wassailing although I've never done it; you need to get on with
your
neighbours.
L- I love decorating the tree, I get one at the corner bodega in
New York and
decorate it with the random ornaments I've collected over the
years.
What song gets you into the Christmas mood?
C- 'Wintertime Love' by The Doors.
L- 'All I Want for Christmas is You' by Mariah Carey.
